I was a "whoopsie" baby. My mother likes to remind me that I was a "pleasant surprise", but I know that my parents weren't psyched when they found out I was coming. They already had three boys, aged thirteen, seven and four when I was born, so they had their hands full. I was even a surprise when I was born. My parents were on vacation visitng my grandparents and then I decided to come along three weeks early. So on November 19, 1991, they welcomed me into the world. I was a pretty well behaved baby, which my mother appreciated because she was pretty busy chasing after my crazy brothers.
My brothers never really notice me. I think they thought I was an inconvenience as a kid, because I always wanted to hang out with them. They never brought me along to anything though, which only made me try harder to get them to think I was cool. They usually just brush me off, telling me I'm too young, or they trivialize my successes. I won a big photo contest in the Boston Globe last year, and my brothers joked at Thanksgiving that the judges obviously had no taste. I know I shouldn't get disappointed when they act like that, but does bother me. My mother says to just ignore it, but I don't listen.
I only came to CUA because all my brothers are in LA. I figure that now that I'm in college they have to treat me like an adult. My oldest brother is the dean of CUA, my middle brother lives in LA and my other brother is a student at CUA. I told my parents that my brothers had no factor in my decision, but I knew I wanted to go to CUA since I was a freshman in high school. I'm worried about the distance from home, but I've got three brothers to go to if I get lonely. They may overlook me most of the time, but they'll help me out if I need them. They are my brothers after all.
